Definition – What does Currency Trader mean?

A currency trader is an individual who seeks to profit from the changes in value between two or more currencies. Currency traders generally trade currency pairs that allow them to buy one currency and sell the other through a brokerage. Currency traders are also known as forex traders.

Currency trading can take many forms. If you exchange a traveller’s check in your domestic currency for a foreign one, you have just made a trade. However, currency trader is generally used to refer to people who systematically trade currencies against each other in order to profit from changes in their relational values. With more and more money trading hands in the forex market, there are more and more currency traders entering the market in hopes of capturing some profits from all that capital flow.
